JOKE OF THE MONTH
This is the transcript of an ACTUAL radio conversation of a US naval ship
with Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October, 1995.
Americans: Please divert your
course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.
Canadians: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to
avoid a collision.
Americans: This is the Captain
of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.
Canadians: No.No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.
Americans: THIS IS THE
AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN, THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED
STATES' ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE
CRUISERS AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR
COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, THAT'S ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH, OR
COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.
Canadians: We are a lighthouse made of rock and cement. Your call!

ASK ROBERT

DEAR ROBERT
I’m trying to switch over to using the
soy wax from the TAYLORED CONTAINER. I noticed that it’s not as creamy when it
melts in the container or maybe it just doesn’t melt as well as the
other. After I lit the votive it took several hours to get a sufficient
melt pool. I was using an HTP votive wick. When it re-hardened my pink
candle had a white line in the wax about ¼”- ½” down with what looks like
little tiny bubbles. It’s just not as pretty as my other candles. The
scent throw was fine. Are there secrets to working with the soy wax that
help it perform as well as the other wax?
SUSAN B.
HI
SUSAN B.,
Welcome
to the world of Soy wax. Soy wax can be difficult to use as well as to
burn, and achieve a good scent throw. Wicking can be difficult as well. In
Soy you need to up size your wicking one size to achieve a good melt pool.
The fragrance throw should be good if you get the correct melt
pool as well, due to the fact heat releases the throw. You might also
consider using our Taylored Replacement 30/70 wax. It is a blend of soy and paraffin.
It out performs the straight Soy, in the burning, appearance, and scent
throw. You can still advertise your candles as a Soy blended product.
Normal wicking applies to this Wax. Soy wax is a wonderful product, but if
you still want to use straight soy, you might encounter certain
difficulties.
Hope this helped.
